WAIKATO AMATEUR ATHLETIC AND CYCLING CLUB.
Tiif annual general meeting of the above Cub was held in the Wn kato Hotel Inst evening. The attendance was gcod, and Mr Geo. Eelgeenmbe presided. Bai.axoi'.-siikkt.—The Hon. Secretary and Treasurer (Mr C. Blackburn), presented the balance-sheet, which was emiii'ntly satisfactory, considering the adverse circumstances under which the inaugural sports meeting was conducted. Receipts : M) ineiiibeis subs, £l6 IS; (id ; i ntiies for ion! race., CI 12s (id ; entries frr sports, XI 7 17s (id ; gate' money, etc , £ls lli< 9d ; sale of looth, £] lis; total, C 53 Kis 3d. Expenditure : Sub. to Association, C2 2< ; stationery, telegrams anil stamps, X2 2s (id ; advertising and printing, I'll lis 9,1; live per cent, of gate money paid to Don).in lio.rd, 15s; prize money, C2(i 10s ; sundry payir cuts re (ports, C(i 12s lid ; bahncc in hand, £4 'is Id ; total, X's 3 Kis 3d. Assets and liabilities : Balance iu hand, X'4 2s Id ; intstanding subs. 15s ; outstanding entiy fees, CI 2s lid ; total, £5 19s 7d. OlTlCKl.'s.—All the oflicers were re elected, tho only alteration being that the following lumcs were added lo the list of vicc-Piesidcnts :—Messrs W. C. Wilson (New Zealand Herald), M. G. Fair.ir, H. Atuinson tied Dr. Brewis, anil that of Mr A. E. Manning to the committee. Bicyclk Runs.—lt was resolved to organise a series of bicycle runs during the ensuing year, and Mr J. K. Hammond was elected captain and Mr C. Blackburn deputy-captain. .Steei'LKCHask. —In order that the. interest in the club should be sustained, it was agreed to ho'el a cross-country event during the winter. A number e>f those present favoured Wednesday as the day, while others thought Saturday would be the better day en which to hold the even*. On the casting vote of the cha:rinan, the first Saturday in June was the day chosen for the fixture. SI'ORTS.—It was Ui.animoiuly agreed lo hold the second spirts gathering of the club upon a Wednesday afternoon during the month of October, but Unfixing of the tlate was lift in the hands of the committee to arrange. BitACKi.KT. —lt was reported that previous to the li.st sports meeting a gold bracelet hail been promised by Air Jas. Harker as a prize for the 300 yards race, but though several applications had been made by (he winner of the event, the promise had not yet hi en fulfilled. Regret was expresseel that Mr R. Bell hail I cen unwittingly kept so loi g waiting for his well-earned trophy, and it was decided to furni-h him with an op n order to ihe extent of £2. Thack.—The tpiestion of forming a good b cycle as well as a running track occasioned a long discussien. The Secretary stated that a subscription lift had itlready been in circu'aliou, and the project had met with a considerable amount of support. Various methods of carrying out the work were propounded, but no definite decision was arrived at. However, every one agreed that such a .■■top was very necessary if the meetings of tin; Club were to be curicd out successfully, and a couple of enthusiastic membois were appointed to make an energetic canvass, and the eletails were left with the committee to arrange. It is proposcel to have a hankcel track for Ir'cycles a quarter of a mile in cTeitmference, with a track for pedestrian events in th" outside. Thanks A hearty vote of thanks to the Secretary and Treasurer for his untiling efforts on behalf of the Club ciosed the meeting.
