CAMBRIDGE ROAD BOARD.

The above Board met nt (lie Ciiterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday. Then: were presi nt: —Mcssis C. Day (Chairmail), \V*. H. Thomas, J. Taylor and \V. H. Wright. Finance.—The Clerk reported that at 31st March the Board's account at the Bank was in credit £95 19a lOd. Since that time rales amounting to £ll lu's 3d had been paid end £iJO was still due, also £H Government subsidy. Kite's Corker. —Mr VV. Main wrote apologising for leirg absent, and stating that J. WcCann hud completed the wo k at Kite's Corner, with the exception of fiirng in the gravel pit. As the pit was a vuy good one, he (Mr Main) suggested it should be fenced instead of being filled in, and McC'ann would erect the fence in lieu of the filling in if the Board decided to keep the p t open.—Mr Thomas said it would be cheap'r to fill the p : t in and the Beard would not lequ're it as there was a large gravel pit in un adjoining road. Mr Taylor said the pit Mr 'J ho mas refeired to was always full of water in winter, whereas the one just opened would be dry.—lJr Thomas concurred, and it was resolved to fence the pit, the Board finding the mateiial and MrMeCann the lalotir. Next Meeting. The Clerk reminded the Board that the next meeting would be the annual statutory cue, and would be held on Saturday, Ist May, at 2 p.m. No. 3 Cross Boad.—Mr Martin Butler wrote, on behalf of the ratepayers of Hautapu, calling attention to the bad state of No. 3 Cress Koad, wlrch had a considerable amount of traffic upon it to and from the Hautapu station.—Mr Thomas said the road was in a very bad state. It was a mile long, and had not had anything dene to it lor about fourteen years. —On the motion of Mr Wright, seconded by Mr Taylor, it was decided to reform and gravel half the road, commencing at Brown's end, the gravelling to be at the rate of eight yards to the chain. The Main Road.—The Chairman said they must keep the main road in repair. He hoped that wherever they did any work upon it, it would be it formed and made a really good job. He thought they had sufficient hinds to do a mile of it. —After some considerable discussion it was resolved to reform, grade and gravel a mile of the road, commencing near Mr Arnold's at the Cambridge end of the road. —Messrs Wright and Thomas will show the work and prepare specifications. They will meet intitiding contractors at the residence of the former on Mondaj, the 26th inst., at 2 p.m. The surfaceman will do the spreading. Accounts. The following accounts were pasßtd for payment : —W. White, £1 8s fid ; T. Pennell, £0 12s ; W. Devine, CI llis; W. Souter and Co., £2 4s lOd ; H. Fitzgerald, £5 Os '.ld ; petty cash, »3 !)d ; J. McCann, ClO 17s Lid. This concluded the business.
