THE New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited), report.—Auckland Wool Stores, April 14.—At our weekly sale on Tuesday a large catalogue was cleared under good competition from a full attendance of buyers. Hides : The market remains very firm. [Ve quote : Prime stout ox, Cd to 6;J-d ; heavy stout, 5d to sjd ; light and medium, 3£d to 4}d ; cow hides, 3yd to 3;d ; picked, to sloppy, a shade less ; calfskins, 3d to 3d ; kip, 3d to 3Ad ; stags, lAd. Sheepskins : Prices advanced on the week, large pelts selling at 3s to 3s lid; medium, 2.s 3d to 3j 9d ; small, Is Gd to 2s. Wool : We offered about 30 packages, mostly inferior, which sold at late quotations. Crossbrcds, 5d to sJ<l ; lambs, to s.{d ; pieces, washed 4d to fj.Jd, greasy 3d to 4d. Tallow : We quote best to 14s Gd ; medium, lis 9.1 to 13s. Horsehair is worth Is lb. Crain : In sympathy with Southern and Australian markets, feed grains have experienced a sharp rise. Oats : Sales in parcels of short bright teed have been made at 2s 6d and 2s 7d, with prices expected to rule higher. Maize : Active enquiry. Potatoes : The market is well supplied, and are worth up to £4 per ton delivered into store. Roncdust : Good demand at £5 10s ; blood and bone manure, £5. Grass seed : Owing to late fine weather there have been some gcod burns and reed has been selling freely. We quote : Cocksfoot, 7s Gd bushel ; Canterbury rye grass, 4s Gd bushel. Messrs Alfred Bvckxahd and Sons' "Weekly Report.—At the Haymarket oaten sheaves have brought from Is Gd to 2s 9d the cwt, meadow hay Is Gd to 2s Gd, pressed hay 3a Gd ; chaff, 3s to 3s 3d ; straw, 10s to 19s the load ; maize, on wharf, 2a Sd per bushel, At the horse sale on Friday, stock in moderate supply, nearly all being sold at late prices. The sale of Mr McKean's, at VVhangarata, was largely attended, the BtO.-k and implements all selling at satisfactory prices. On Tuesday hides were pitched in full number, and late prices sustained, heavy ox brought from 4.|d to Gjd per lb ; medium, 4d to 4£d ; light ox and cow from 3Jd to 3Jd ; calfskins, 4d to 5d ; tallow, lis Gd to 13s the cwt., and bones, 3s Gd. Pelts from Is to 2s 7d each ; lamb skins, 2s to 3s 2d ; wool, sid to Gd per lb. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows at profit, in usual supply, were at late values. Prices for those at profit were from £3 to £5 12s 6d each. Store cattle in less numbers than usual ; grown steers at lower values. "Weaned calves and ycarliugs kept their price. Few young calves yardtd ; wellfatted calves plentiful, but were required, and fully kept late values. Fat cattle in average number, 190 sold, were firm at last week's quotations, lGs to 17s for steers, 12s to lGs the lOOlbs for cows. Steers ranged in price from £5 15s to £S 10s ; cows, £3 10s to £6 10s each. Sheep and lumbs, short of usual number, advanced in prices from Is to 2a each. Pigs, fairly represented, were required, and kept their late values.
