LOVE AND EMBEZZLEMENT.
Sydney, April 8. A conj.T-MARTiAT, sat to-day to hoar the charge against Craddock of embizzling i'-JO'iO, stealing £343, making a false enfry, and desertion from his ship. Ho pleaded guilty, and in a lengthy statement to the court vaid that a few months ago lie became infatuated with the lady who was now ids wife, and he was distracted by the knowledge that he. would very shortly have to leave the Australian station and be severed fruin the lady. On a sudden impu'se he-w>k the money. His mind was practically unhinged through, brooding, and he pleaded strongly ior a chance to redeem his charaetei. Lie was found guilty, and *entenced to three yeira, and dismissed the service with disgrace.
