TE AROHA DOMAIN BOARD.

- Tiik usual monthly meeting of the above was held in the Board's office, Whitakei*street, on Wednesday. A communication was received from the Under-Secretary Lauds and Survey Department, Wellington, stating that the Hon. Mr Cadman had arranged matters in connection with the expenditure of the £2OOO vote, taken f< r necessary woiks and improvements within the Hot Springs Domain Reserve. The Hoard was requested lo call tenders for the main drain to the cieek, and Mr Vickerman, of the Fublie. Works Department, Auckland, would let the work out and supervise the same. —A. letter was also, read from the Hon. Mr Cadinan, in which he stated that, ISin. pipes would be ample to connect with the sewer for the drainage of the Domain Reserve, even though the Town Board made use of the proposed well when carrying into effect a town drainage scheme at some future time. —'I he Chairman intimated, to the Board the direction in which it was proposed to lay the drain pipes, and he said they could not call for tenders for the woik until the receipt of the necessary specifications .from Mr Vickerman. Mr Edwin Edwards'(Paeroa) proposal, re massage treatment, was duly considered. —The Chairman stated that he had spoken to Mr Cadman on the subject, and the latter had stated that as the question of establishing a sanatorium ac To Aroha was under consideration, lie thought it would he belter to defer the matter of massage for a while, hut he (Mr Cadman) would leave it to the Board to act as they thought best.—After some discussion it was resolved, on the motion of Cr. Mackie, seconded by Cr. Bygravc, that Mr Edwards be authorised to cany out his proposal, re massage treatment, fir the term of five years, on the lines specified. It was decided to expend the sum of £lO with Messrs Wildtnan and Lyell, of Auckland, for the purchase of new books for the Domain Library. (Jr. Gavin sta'ed that several tradesmen had spoken to him re the hand taking up a collection in the domain on Sunday afternoon last. They told him they had always supported the band, and as the Domain Board also contributed to their funds, it appeared to them (the tradesmen) that soliciting money in such a maimer was very much out of place.—The Cleik was anlhoiised to write to the secretary of the band, requesting him to discontinue taking up collections in the Domain, and to state that the Board were pr-pared ro pay for the extra Sundays' performances for one month at the same rate as for Meek-niylit performances. The Board en ntcd free baths for cue month to three deserving applicants. The Clerk submitted the lollowing statement of accounts for the month endinjl April 7th . —To balance at credit, £1!)
