Wellington, Thursday. At the Postal Conference held rtceutly in Melbourne, at which -Mr Seddon, as Postmaster-General for Now Zealand, was present, the following resolution, which amongst others was passed by the delegates, has sines been assented to by the colonies represented with the exception of Western Australia, which does not bind itself to it :—" This Conference hereby expresses its great satisfaction that the Pacific Cable Commission has decided to recommend the adoption of the proposals formulated at the Sydney Conference, and, in view of the great importance to the Empire the construction of • lie cable would be, expresses the hope that means may at an early date be found for its spcidy realisation."
