A DIVE FROM THE TAY BRIDGE.
At Dundee, recently " Tommy " Burns, the well known diver, made a successful dive from tho Tay-bridgo. Accompanied by a companion, he got into a train at Tay-bridge Station, and, taking off his clothes, assumed a bathing costume. Whon the train was passing over the bridge he opened tho door of the carriage and clambered on to the roof. From here ho took a header into the water 100 ft. below. It is said that he went through the air like an arrow, and took the water in fine stylo. The boats which were to bavo picked him up wore too far off to reach him, and somo workmen engaged on tho bridge threw some railway sleepers in his direction. He got astride one of these, aud a few minutes later was picked up by a steam launch and taken to Dundee. In the meantime the police had been informed, and Burns was asked to accompany then to the police-office, He recently made a dive from tho Forth.* bridge.
