DEATH OF A CENTENARIAN.
♦— The death is announced of Mrs Sarah Thomas, at Bnrryport, in her 100th year. On her 100th birthday she received a kindly letter from the Princess of Wales with 106 shillings. Up to recently the centenarian had enjoyed good health, but shortly before Christmas she was found in bed unconscious, and to all appearance dead. Dr Owen Williams was at once summoned, and found she was not dead, but in a state of coma. In this state she remained for over 110 hours. Meanwhile tte doctor adopted every moans to restore animation, but without result. Late next day, however, Mrs Thomas awoke after her long sleep, apparently greatly refreshed. The old lady's first request after her awakening wr.s for ii pipe and tobacco, she being an inveterate smoker.
