THE CINEMATROGRAPHE.

The people of Hamilton last night had an opportunity of Witnessing the Cinematographe, one of Edison's latest and most wonderful inventions. The effects are really marvellous and life-like in all the numerous details. It is scarcely possible to give anything like a fair description of the effects produced, it must be seen and seen again to take in, even in a small measure, the extraordinary scientific developments evidenced. The great scientists in all parts of the world have been amazed at the perfection to which the inventor has brought the application of photography in the cinematographe, and are now looking forward to further advancement, when the phonograph will be applied and the ">oving figures be endowed with speech. It is scarcely necessary to refer to any particular scene where all were so life-like and xealistic. The skirt dance, however, does call for special mention, with its various changes of colour in the dress of the fair actress. We must, however, put on record that there was a geneially expressed regret that Mr McMahon had not arranged for a second night, in Hamilton, had this been possible, he would undoubtedly have been favoured with a bumper house. As this cannot be, and as Mr McMahon is timed to leave Auckland on Tuesday, our friends in the Cambridge district will be favoured to-night, and we most strongly commend the entertainment to their notice as one they should make every effort to attend.
