CARDINAL MORAN'S CANDIDATURE.

Sydney, February 16. Tub representatives of the Protestant churches are issuing a manifesto against Cardinal Morau's candidature for the Federal Convention. They affirm that the entry of so high an ecclesiastic into the political arena is calculated to stir up serious rancour ; also, that the Cardinal is the sworn subject and servant of a foreign Power, and in the event of a conflict would owe primary obligations and allegiance to the Power which invested him iu the cardinalate. It is rumoured that in addition to the whole strength of the Orange party being pitted against him, the Cardinal will have the influence of the Masonic fraternity exerted in opposition to him.
