The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report:—Auckland Wool Stoves, 10th February.—Our usual weekly auction of hides, skins, wool, etc., was held on Tuesday, 9th inst., when wc submitted a fair catalogue. Hides : These were very firm for all lots in decent condition. There is an excellent market for both ox and cow. Calfskins are also selling well. Quotations fully support late rates, say, prime stout ox, uid to 6sd ; heavy stout, up tos|d ; light and medium, up to 4sd ; cow, 3d to 3Jd ; calf, 3£d to 4}d ; kip, 2Jd to 3d. Sheepskins : Only a moderate market prevails for these, though all forward find buyers. Pelts, up to lOd ; lambskins, up to Is 9d and 2s ; fußsized crossbreds in fair wool, up to 4s 3d. Wool : All oddments meet ready sale. Lambs, 5d to 6d ; medium crossbred, sjd to 6jd ; inferior, 5d to s|d ; dead, 5d ; pieces, 3d to 5Jd ; locks, 2d to 3d. Ou Friday the horses from Sydney sold freely. Medium draught, from £lO to £ls each ; a heavy draught, £2B. On Tuesday, heavy ox hides were wanted, and brought from 4d to 7d lb; medium. 3\A to 3jjd; cow hides, 3d to 3Ad; calfskins, 3£d to 44d ; tallow, lis 6d to 15s cwt; fat, Id to ljd lb ; bones, 3a cwt; lambskins, Is 6d to 2s 4d each ; pelts, Is; skins, 2s 6d to 5s Id ; wool, s|d to lb ; washed pieces, 7£d. At Waiuku, on Saturday, cattle yarded in less number than usual, sold freely throughout the sale. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows, in moderate supply, were required; prices tor those at profit were from £4 to £6 5s each. Store cattle, in average number, sold freely at prices equal to those ruling in the spring. Young calves, in demand brought from 4% to 7s each. Fat calves, in short supply, were from 15s to 28s each. Fat cattle in full number, 259 yarded ; of these, 244 were sold at prices varying from 17s to 20a, but the freater part from 18s to 19s the 1001 b. rices for steers ranged from £5 10s to £9 2s 9d; cows, £4 to £7 15s each. Sheep, short of requirements, were firm at late values. Ewes, were from 7a 6d to 10s 3d; wethers, 7s 6d to lis each; lambs, in moderate supply, were at late values throughout, and brought from 5s to 8s 3d each. Pigs, numerous, sold freely; porkers, from 17s to 24s ; slips, 10s to 14s ; weaners, 6s to 8s 6d each. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report. Horsefeed, grain, seeds: There has not been a large amount of business done and little alteration in value. We quote maize on wharf, 2s 7d bushel; ex store, 2s lOd ; feed oats, 2s 6d to 2s 7d ; bran, £4 ton. Horses : A good many have been brought forward and found buyers, prices being slightly in favour of the vendor. There were a large number entered for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Competition was good throughout the sale. Heavy draughts sold at from £l2 10s to £3O each ; a pair of draughts, £6O ; medium draughts, £ll 5s to £ls 10s ; light harness horses, £4 15s to £ls 103 ; hacks, £3 10s to £9 15s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones : A moderate catalogue Mas gone through at the Durham Yards ou Tuesday. .The demand was brisk, aud a slightly upward tendency in value of hides. Cattle : There has bceu an improved demand and an increased number of dairy and store stock brought forward. The demand has been 3teady, and prices have been sustained. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, the butchers and dairy pens were fairly well tilled, and notwithstanding the rain there was a good muster at Pukekohc on Wednesday. Bidding was good at Loth sales. We quote : Ox beef, ISs to 20s per 1001 b; cow, 16s to 17a ; fat steers ranged from £6 to £8 12s 6d ; fat cows, £4 5s to £6 10s; dairy cows, £3 10a to £5 17s 6d ; dry cows, £1 5s to £2 16s ; calves, 13s to 23s ; steers, 18 months to two years old, £1 17s 6d to £3 ; grown steers, £3 10s to £5 7s 6d. Sheep were plentiful at Newmarket on Tuesday, and somewhat lower in price. Wethers sold from 8s 3d to lis ; ewes, Gs 6d to 93 3d ; lambs, 4s to 12s. Pigs were in limited numbers.
