AUCKLAND NEWS.
+ (BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Last Night. THE Hon. T. Thompson was in attendance at the Ministers' room throughout to-day. Besides transactions of routine and departmental business he received a, deputation relative to the appointment of a member on the Harbour Board to represent the Devonport Borough. The present wet weather has shown the unsuitability of the site at the narrow neck at the North Shore, chosen for next week's New Zealand Rifle Championship Meeting. Last night a great part of the trench fell in, the tidal waters having undermined the ground, being assisted in their work by the downpour of rain. Major Somerville is doing his best with the means at his disposal to get all ready for the opening next Monday.
