HAMILTON STOCK MARKET. At the monthly sale, held in the Hamilton Borough Yards, on Thursday, an average number of stock was brought forward, but with only a moderate attendance of the public, farmers being busy harvesting. The beef pens were filled with a good class, over a hundred head of fat cattle being in, most of which sold briskly at about late rates ; a lot of it going to Paeroa. Two pens of choice steers from Messrs Samuel Steele and Jos. Barugh, made £6 7s and £0 10a respectively. Young cattle were rather low ; Raglan buyers taking a good proportion "of those sold. Sheep and lambs were rather short of requirement, and sold briskly at fully Auckland prices. Pigs were plentiful, but prices ruled low. Previous to the stock sale, Mr \V. J. Hunter offered a block of land in the Borough of Hamilton, containing five acres, with some cottages upon it, in the estate of John Deegau. Bidding was started at £2OO, and there being no advance, it was knocked down for that sum, presumably to the mortgagee. Prices of stock were : Calves, 10s to 14s ; eighteen-months steers, 25s to 42s M ; ditto, mixed sexes, 30s ; two-year-old leifers, 28s ; ditto, steers, £2 14s ; thret-year-old steers, £3 us to £3 12s ; bulla, £2 to £4 us ; empty cows, 35s ; for ag<:d, up to £2 15s ; for good fresh cattle ; Fat heifers, £2 15s to £3 10s ; ditto cows, £3 10s to £4 17s 6d ; the bulk going at about £3 17s Gd ;fat steers, £4 15s to £(5 10s ; dairy cows, poorly represented, prices were £2 2s Gd to £3 10s. Sheep : Fat ewes, 7s to 7s 6d ; ditto (mixed sexes), Ga 6d to 7s ; fat lambs, 5a 9d to Gs Gd. Pigs: Weaners, 4s to 5s 3d ; slips, 7s Od to 10s 3d ; sow hi farrow, 355. Poultry : Fowls, la 2d ; turkeys, 3s Gd. A few horses were sold at curreut rates. AUCKLAND MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan anb Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report:—Auckland Wool Stores, 27th January 27 : A medium catalogue was offered at our Tuesday auction, when prices were firm all round. Quotations : —Hides : Prime stout ox, to Gi-d ; heavy s>out, 4jd to s}d ; light and medium, 3£d to 4£d; damaged and scored at nominal prices ; calf, 3d to 4d ; kip, 2}d to 3d ; cow, 3d to 3jjd. Sheepskins : Pelts, 6d to lOd ; lambs, Is 3d to 2s. Wool : Prices were firm at late quotations. Horns, hair, etc., at late rates. Bones, £3 5s to £3 15s per ton. Messrs Alfred Bucicland & Sons' At the Haymarket meadow hay brought 3s Gd, oaten sheaves, 2s Gd and 33 cwt ; straw, from 15s to 27s the load. Oats, 2s 7d ; maize, 2s lOd ; barley, 2s fld the bushel; pressed hay, £2 10s; Chesterfield guano, £3 103 the ton ; maize on wharf, 2s 8d the bushel. On Friday horse stock at late values, medium draught ranged from £9 to £lO ; a spring dray brought £l3. On Tuesday hides were in better demand ; ox hides rnnged from 31. d to sjjd ; cow hides, 3d to 3;}d ; calf skins, 4d to 4 : Jd the lb ; tallow, 13s to 15s 3d the cwt; tails, Is (id the dozen ; fleece wool, !>id to 6sd ; pieces, sale held at Mt. Roskill there was a numerous attendance, cows ranged from £2 03 to £5 oa ; fat ewes, 8s ; lambs, 7s each ; the buggy, £23 ; spring caru, £lO 5s ; horses, £lO 10s and £ll each. At Pukekohe on Monday a full muster of atoek were yarded,bidding was dull; cows Ranged from £2 5s to £4 5s ; calves, 14s to 22s ; 18-month to two-year-olds, 35s to 50s each. At Keinuera on Thursday dairy cows yarded numerously, and were dull of sale nnles3 of choice quality, those brought from £4 15s to £5 17s Gd each. Store cattle sold freely at full values. Since the weather has broken there has been an improved tone in the market. Fat stock lias not been forwarded so plentifully, prices have improved, and grown store cattle are enquired for. Calves in short supply sold satisfactorily. Fat cattle in average number kept last week's values. Steers were from 17s to IDs; cows, I4s to IDs 1001 b; 200 sold. Prices for steers ranged up to £!) 10s; cows, £G 15s. Sheep in usual number fully kept late values. Fat wethers were from 7s 3d to 12s ; ewes, Gs Od to Us tid each ; store ewes, 2s 9d to 4s 0d ; 1320 sold. Lambs in moderate supply were better worth than last week ; puces were from Gs to Os 3d each ; 290 sold. Pigs in short supply sold freely and kept late values. Light weight porkers brought from lGs to 225; weanens, 4* to Gs each. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report.—Horsefeed, grain, seed : A moderate demand has existed, and the supply has been sufficient. We uuote : Maize, on wharf, 2s 7d to 2s Sd bushel ; ex Store, 2s 10i to 3s ; feed oats, 2s 7d ; bran, £4 ton. Wool, hides, bkitts, tallow, boned : A moderate catalogue was gone through at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. We quote : Stout ox hides, 3d to Gd lb ; moderately stout, '3k\ to -IM ; cow and steer, 2Jd to 3Jd ; calfskins, 3d to lk\ ; tallow, 12s cwt ; bones, £3 tun. Sheepskins, 2s to 3s 2d ; pelts, Gd to lid ; lambskins, Is Gd to Is 9d ; damaged pelts, Id tosd each—a large number arrive damaged with weevils, and are valueless ; small packages wool llececs, old to (ikl lb ; lambswool, sid to Gd ; pieces, 'MA to 4}d. Horses have been in sufficient numbers for requirements ami prices in favour of vendor. A special sale was held at tho Durham Yards ou Wednesday. There was a good attendance, a shipment from Sydney being the attraction. Competition was food, and prices have an upward tendency. Heavy draught sold from £l\ 2s (3d to £25 10s ; medium draught, £l2 10s to £IG ; unbroken colts and fillies, £lO t-> £l6 ; pair unbroken colts suitable for medium drmght, £27 the pair; hacks anil light barnCss horses, £3 10s to £9 15s. Cattle : Quite an average number has been brought forward, and there was a steady demand for all classes. The Newmarket pens on Tuesday were well filled.
