<► ANNUAL I'IC'NIC AND SI'ORTS. On Thursday this long looked for event came off and was a glorious success. Ml* Gillctt gave the use of his beautiful grounds, and a more delightful place would be hard to find. Mr Gillctt also oflieiated as judge during the day, and witii complete success. Through the generous action of Messrs Coatcs, Meachem, Mullions, Wright, limes, Hobbs and Gillctt, the children were taken out in a big waggon and in buggies. Mrs Gillett and the lady teachers, Misses Nixon, Crickett, and A. Gillctt, spared no pains in supplying the children at lunch and tea, and a royal time tiny hail. Mr Stevens, the head teacher, assisted by Mr Pearson (Member of the Committee), ami Messrs A. Coatcs, W. Dey, T. Winter (old scholars), managed the sports, and Mere kept busy the whole day. 'I lie races were keenly contested, but were so arranged that every child obtained a prize. Before leaving hearty cheers were given to Mr Gillett anil family and the teachers. The onerous work of the latter was much relieved by the excellent behaviour of the children, which was highly gratifying to the many friends and parents present.
