■ ♦ Paris, December 16. The Chamber of Deputies has rejectee the proposals of M. Lockroy for i Inrgo vote of money for naval purposes. M. Meline, tbe Premier, promisee to introduce a measure early in 18!*7. M. Bernard, Minister of Marine said the present Estimates, amounting to 72 million francs, provided foi new warships, beginning with an ironclad and two cruisers, and the Government were maturiug a scherno foi the increase of the navy. December 17. In the Chamber of Deputies, M Besnard said the French should be able to confront the navy of any oi the Powers forming the Triple Alliance, and if Germany increased the number of her warships it was imperative for France to do likewise.
