December 2
Employers suggest that the Board of Arbitration should consist of four delegates from the employers, four men representing the workers, and three impartial assessors. The number of men on strike has increased to 14,500. The strike fund amounts to seventy thousand marks.
The Hamburg strikers have opposed their willingness to refer the matter to arbitration.
A hundred of the Hamburg employers have refused to arbitrate over the strike on the ground that such a course would prolong the strife. They contend the real question is a fight for supremacy, not wages.
