POLICE COURT, TE AWAMUTU.
Monhay AND TcksdaY. —(Before Messrs .J. Hutchinson, .1. 11. Maudeuo, and P. O'Connor, .1 'sP.). TIIKKK was a long sitting of the Court held on Monday and Tuesday, hearing two cases of assault arising out of the disturbances amongst the different native owners of the Pokuru lilock at the Puniu. near Kihikihi. The first easewas that brought by Hori Wirihana v. Haraweuua Warena, Te Wlnrau Hiipato, Ahipu, Mata Xgaro te Haote, and Kakainutu. Mr Gresham appeared for the plaintiff, the defendants conducting their own cases. After hearing the evidence of both, sides and that of several wit nesses, the Pcneh inflicted the following lines : Kuk am libit, ">s anil costs il'l Is KM ; Mata Ngaro, 10s and cos's A"I ISs Kid ; Ahipu. Ids and oost3 CI l'.ts Kid ; Te Wharau llapato. f>s and costs t'l I'.ls Kdl; llarawenua Warena, ."is and costs £1 Ills. lOd. Hiwaoma Wirihana v. Te Koiia.— Assault. Dismissed. Mr Gresham ap pcareil for plaintiff', and the defendant conducted his own case. .Mr W. H. Grace acted as in'erpreter for both cases.
