As the river was in flood during the construction of the approaches they had to be made higher than was nece-sary, and will have to be lowered when the river subsides. In accordance with instructions the erection of the house, gates and approach s was let to Mr White, the total cost has been £207 4s Od. There is a balance in hand to expend ou this wcrk of £32 l.")s 3d. Hcstly Punt. Unauthorised, but necessary work was done ac a cost of £2 lSs2d. Total estimate for work is £3.5. Removing Timber.- Some timber had been removed from the reading Wsiuui, and lie was informed it had been sold by a native. Raglan-Waipa Eoad. -- Expenditure of the £IOO grant is now being canied on and will be shortly completed. Steele's Road.—Have inspected and pegged off the proposed deviation at Mr .Steele's. This road is partly in Karamti and partly in I'irongia. ITUSTLY -Main Road.— l he main road fiom Huntly to the punt is in a very bad condition, the sand blows in clou Is and is gradually destroj ing the approaches. Installing would cost l'(i 10s. Raglan Township.—Proposed expenditure of £3O licensing money. Wiiakf. —The steel rails for wharf are expected i:ext steamer, their co?t is within 430. Soundings taken at the wharf show that the depth is slightly increasing and I do not think there is tiny immediate necessity for pro'ectiou.
