BOATING ACCIDENT.
T]lß E E I, lA* E S LOST. A sad boating accident occurred at Waingongoro beach, between Hawcra and Mana : a, at 11 o'clock on Sunday mc Ruing. A party of e : ght--Messrs R. Bripgs, C.Wordsworth, Claries Claikc, Harry Sisley, John Caldwell, and Misses Wordsworth (2) and Clara Crow hurst—went out in an open I oat, and when returning we.e struck 1 y a breaker, which cai - s'zed the boat. R. Briggs, C. Wordsworth, and Miss Crowbur.st weie diowned. Their bodies weie subs((|iiently recovered much bruised. Wordsworth was a married man, .ibout 45, and leaves a wife and six children. Briggs was lnanicd, was about 27 y tais, ar.d leavts a wife and one child. Call Crow hurst, aged 17, was the dar.gh'er ot .Mr Crowhuist, if the M»naii Witness. Wordtworth was a well known settler. He was one of the suivivors of the wieck of the Strath more, wrecked on Croze t Islands many years ago, and was rescind from the island after being castaway alotit twelve it out lis.
