CRICKET.
tuhikakamk-a v. xe awamutu. This match was played on .Saturday, at Tuhikaraniea, in the presence of an unusually largo number of spectators. The To Awainutu skipper, .1. W. M. Singleton, won the loss, and wisely elected to go in on a good wicket, Park ami C. Bowden facing the howling. The former was not long in tipping one into the hands of N. Reid. The next man, Howard, stayed for awhile till he succumbed to a ball that broke in from the edge of the matting. Tins last player played good cricket for a useful 9. Singleton was then associated with Bowden, and the latter was almost immediately run out. F. ISowdcn followed, and he and Singleton at once commenced to make things merry, till N. Real managed to get one past, the skipper's bat, and he 'retired after making 21 in his usual masterly style, without, giving the semblance of a chance except justbefore being bowled. Blaekett and Marshall did not .stay long, and shortly afterwards F. Bowden followed with a well-earned 11. A'one of the rest did much except Misscn, who played in a very finished style for 11. The innings closed for ST. Tuhikaramca commenced badly, losing three good bats for 1 run. However, r>. Reid and Davies restored confidence by makinq 20 before a separation was affected, Davies forgetting to stop one of Blackctt's fast ones. Aubin and 1S T . Rcid carried the score to 40 before the latter lost his wicket to G. Bowden, after carefully compiling 19 : 5 runs later Aubin was iun out, having made 12 by lucky cricket ; the rest managed to make ]2 between them and the innings closed for 57, just 30 runs less than Te Awamutu. The feature of Tc_ Awamutu's second innings and in fact of the match was C. Bowden's score of 78, got by splendid cricket against such bowling as N. Reid and E. Aubin, the latter the past Waikato crack bowler. Charlie had hard luck in being run out when century was well in sight. The innings closed for 132. The fielding of Tuhikaramca with few exceptions was wretched for a team so noted for its excellence in that department. Blackctt was most successful with the ball for Te Awamutu, C. and G. Bowden also bowled creditably. For Tuhikaramca X. Rcid, Livingstone, Hodgson in the iirst innings and Aubin and brabble in the second.
