We notice that a Mr Anson has decided to contest the Ellesincre seat against Mr W. Montgomery. There is a rumour persistently circu lated in this district that the Hon. Mr Seddon will be nominated as a candidate in opposition to the return ef Mr I ung, but that the fact will not be divulged till the nomination paper is sent in.

This evening Mr I''. W. Lang, who is at present the only candidate for the Waikato sear, will address the electors at the. Oddfellows' Hall, Hamilton. MiLang has now visited most of the centres in the northern portion of the electorate and has delivered several addresses, all of which have been most favourably received.

Yesterday afternoon Mr T. Kirk, Returning Ollieer for the Waikato Electorate, received notice of the issue of the writs for the general elections, which have been fixed for Friday, 4th December The time for receiving nominations is up to 5 p.m. on Friday next, 27th hist. 'the ollicial notification with reference to the poll for the \\ aikato Electoral District and a list of the polling placeswill be found in today's issue. Mr W. V. Lackland is gaining strength daily in (he Manukau Electorate and his chances of being returned arc considered excellent.

The Hon. Mr Ward has issued his address to the electors of Awarna, and will prosecute an active crusade during the coming week.
