Cowpcr's Auct : ou Mart, K. Qyndall's butcher shop, and U. Hale's gio:ery stole. The lire h supposed to have originated in a shed at thr. back of Tyndiill's butcher's shop, which contained .1 small engine and boiled. Tliis had been working that night, and it is suppo'el the ashes set the the shed oi> fire. This being c'ose against iho matt probably cammunicated with it. Ka h of those burnt out is a heavy looser. Cowper was to have taken over the building from the contractors (Bryant and McKenzie) to day. They had no insurance on the building, losing besides several kits of tool*. A consignm-nt of furniture in the mart was also burnt. Hales was insured in the North Oerman, his shop for CIOO and stock for ,1'."(I0 11is "less being between t' 100 and WOO. Tyndall was insur d for ,€IOO in the New Zealand Insurance and C'-'O in the Manchester Fire Oliice, and estimates his loss at LI-JO.
