CABLE SUMMARY,
NEWS bas been received that 2000 Ntuunrakos attacked a force of -100 Portuguese soldiers under the Governor of Mozambique, at Magenga. After twenty-two hours' fighting tho Portuguese retreated, having had several of their number killed and 35 wounded, including the Governor. The natives lost heavily. An epidemic of malarial fever of a terribly malignant type is raging in Merv. The death roll from the plague within the last few months numbers SG.OOO persons. The greater number of the victims were Twtcomans, but a largo number of Russian soldiers must be included in the list.
