The produce market has undergone various changes ; old potatoes have been in short supply, and prices have considerably advanced; present values, ex store, are £4 5s to .£4 10s ; on the other hand yesterday, sales of new crop show a decline of an average of £2 per ton. Maize keeps steady at recent values. Oats: An average of Id to Id, according to quality and quantity. Onions are so dear that buyers restrict purchases to prompt wants. First-class cheese remains firm. Eggs have advanced, and outside orders are neglected. The same remark will apply also to hams and bacon. Fresh butter was unusually dull of sale and prices have decidedly receded. Fruit is still confined to importations in quantities, the local supply being only small. Messrs Arthur Tooman and Co.'s Markkt Report.—Dining the past week a considerable amount of general produce has been put through with several changes in values. Supplies all round have been much larger. Old potatoes are very scarce and tinner, although not in very great demand ; new crop is now offering in fair quantities ; many arcyet too small, still prices are good. Onions scarce. Butter and eggs much more plentiful, the former at an advance, the latter unchanged. Bacon and hams, although scarce, do not show any improvement. Honey, better demand. Fork to hand in quantity ; average price lower. l'igs and poultry in large supply, maintained previous high values. Fruit : Large supplies of imported and increased quantities of seasonable local kinds, sold at satisfactory rates. The competition throughout was extremely keen, English and German buyers operating most freely. Americans still show a tendency to hold off. Compared with resent sales, prices were good. Oood finalities of merinos, greasics, scoured, and crossbreds advanced fully 5 per cent., while inferiors and pieces were in better demand. The market closed brisk and buoyant. Melbourne established the record. At one sale over 3000 bales were offered and everyone sold. Breadstuff*' show a distinct advance throughout Australia.
