Baoiiki.oks' Bali..—Some mouths ago the ladies if this district gave a most enjoyable Leap Year ball, and ever s'nee it came off the bachelors' return has been anxiously looked forward to. An energetic committee, consisting of Messrs E. Rathborne, H. limit, FT. Could, J. Marshall, and E. Loiisdale-Stielling (lion, tec), has had the matter in hand for some weeks past, and the function, which took- the form of a plain and fancy dress ball, came oil' on Friday evening last in the Mill Hall. There were some seventy couples present, and a very enjoyable evening was spent, (lancing being kept up till nearly four o'clock next morning. Among those in fancy dfOJS, some of the best were : Miss Troughear, Daisy Bell : Miss (iresham, Pompadour; MPs M. Soppett, Skirt Daroer ; do Montalk, Nancy Lee ; Miss Paterson, Toothache ; Miss Knelling, Night; Miss Limmer, 80-peep; Miss N. Paterson, Nancy Lee ; Miss Jakeman. Baby ; Mr H. Hunt, Don dear; Mr 11. McKenzie, South Sea Islander ; Mr Thompson, Naval Officer ; Mr J. Marshall, Courtier ; Mr W. Park, Clown ; Mr Bell, Midshipman ; Mr A. Daltou, Sambo ; Mr A. J. Simmelhag, Dude ; Mr Hammond, Footballer. The music was very acceptably rendered by Misses SnelliiiL', Soppett ami Wilson, and Messrs Ilutt and Dairy. (Own Correspondent).
