MAGISTRATES COURT, TE AWAMUTU.
Wednesday.—(Before dipt. Jackson, S.M.). Poi.iok v. Bkadi.ey.—This was an information laid by Constable Stanycr for malicious injury to property. The accused, who h appars is a young man working in the bush in the King Country, was called to answer no less than tour different charges. For the fhst lie was fined CI and' cos's. On pleading euilty he said that he would like to draw His Worship's notice to the fact that the summons had been out for 12 months. Constable Stanycr explained that the accused went away as soon as the ollencc was emnnitted, and that it was very dillicult to catch young fellows once they got into a bush. Last week was the lirst chalice he got of serving the summons. His Worship inflicted a line of £1 and costs. For bi ing drunk ami disorderly at the same time he was lined L'l and eo.-ts. He was next charged on the inl'ormati'ii of Cons'able Carroll, of Kihikihi, for fur 'oils driving. The constable explained that accused was driving a buggy about the street at full gallop and win very noi.-y. When arrest- d he went to the lock-up qirotly, On being asked by the Bench for an explanation, he said that he had come down to answer the lirst two charges and had taken a drop too much.—His Worship : It appears to me that you are cue of those young men who, when you earn a few pounds, g.-t ditllik and think yourselves groat men, and that you cm make :n much iK'iso as you like. For this offenc! 1 think you should go lo prison.Accused asked His Worship to take a lenient view of the case, as it was the lirst time he had ever appeared in Court. --After consideration His Worship inflicted a fine of L'l and cost--.—Accused was then finally cbargi el with using obscene language at Kihikihi on the same: day, and was ordered to be 1 eked up until the Court rose. Dkaisace Board. —Two appeals were heard in connection with the M uigahoi Land Drainage Ba'd v. (!. Ah er and J H. Lyons-.—After hearing the evidence, His Woiship said that he could not grant the appeals-. IIEi'EREA V. Cai.E. —This Win an assault case against Johu (!age, of Kihikilp', in consequence of a dispute over a block of land near the I'iiniu.—After hearing the evidence of both parties.
