Te Mata Road.—The Co-operative men engaged on the road from Te Mata to Waitetuna are pushing on the work, and have pitched camp eight miles this side of Waitetuna bridge. It is expected that before long they will open up the road. The men who came from Auckland to work on this road, with the exception of one, left some time ago and their places have been taken by local men, who were only too glad to embrace the opportunity of getting employment, This is as it should be and from the start the local men should have been given the first chance. Cattle Sale.—The cattle sale just heId was the most successful for a long time past. More cattle were yarded and disposed of. SHEEP SHEARING.—-During last week at the Te Akau station about a thousand sheep were shorn. They are now in a good condition and when fat will be sent to the Auckland market. Meetings.— The anniversary services in connection with the Congregational Church will take place on Sunday, November 8th. The soiree will be held on Saturday evening, 7th inst. As in former years a number of friends are expected from Auckland, some of whom intend coming on their bikes, via Hamilton. On Friday evening next a social meeting is to be held at Waitetuna. a metting having been held on Saturday evening last to arrange for the gathering. Dramatic performances are to be given from time to time under the auspices of the social club.
New building: —Mr McJannet has erected on the Pilot Station reserve a new house, It is situated near the road just below Mr Mitchell's fence. I hear he has also purchased the property on the other side of the road, known as Lyttle's, and which adjoins that of Mr Dando, who some time ago erected a nice new dwelling house on his section.—Own Correspondent.
