CRICKET.
HUNTLY V. TAUPIRI. Ox Saturday, October 10th, the return cricket match between the Huntly and Taupiri Clubs, was commenced at Taupiri. The day was fine but windy, and this interfered somewhat with the bowling. Taupiri won tho toss, and elected to bat. .Scoring was very slow ; the bowling of W. Gleeson and R. Eall being difficult to negotiate. Fuller 25, and 0. Lovell 11, made top scores for Taupiri, while McClellaud 2S, and G. Gleeson 27, occupied like positions for Huntly. On Saturday a fair muster |of cricketers rolled up on Sydney Square, Hamilton, when sides were chosen between Messrs Buxton and Hammond, whicli resulted in a win for the former after a most enjoyable game. Is ex t Saturday the match between an eleven of the Hamilton Football Club v. the Hamilton Cricket Club will be played on Sydney Square, This match is causing considerable excitement, and the footballers are determined, if possible, to keep up their reputation and add another win to their credit. The names of the teams will appear in Thursday's issue. Trott, the captain of the Australian Eleven, says that Richardson is now by far the best bowler of modern times. He also considers the Imlian prince, Ranjitsinhji, the best batsmen in England.
