POLO
The annual meeting of the Kiliikihi Polo Club took place last Saturday. Mr Laurie was voted to the chair. A good many strangers, with plenty of the old hands, were present, and it is anticipated that tiic club will be greatly increased by the young bloods of Maungatautari ; and we must not forget the versatile Kikikihi saddler and last, but not least, Mr M. S. Laurie. With all these redoubtable bloods the Kiliikihi Polo Club must ro ahead. We must not forget our old friend Mr 8. R. M. Singleton, who we were glad to sec amongst us and taking a lively interest in the future welfare of his old club. The balancesheet, which we arc glad to hear is on the right side, was not presented owing to a few members not having paid up their subscriptions. The meeting was adjourned until the 21st, when intending members are. requested to be present. It is a great shame to have so many young men amongst the community of Waikato (dashing riders, too), and only to be able to raiseone polo club out of them. It is a game that needs no outlay or expense, at least to country folk, most of us keeping a pony or a horse. The feed that keeps the latter would nearly keep two ponies. They are hardier and up to as big a journey as many a horse. The young men of Kiliikihi are to be congratulated for the pluck and esprit tic corps in carrying on ;\ game that is rather looked down upon ami that many predicted would not bold together for two seasons. We lnpo to sec many pleasant games played between the new club at Waingaro and the Kiliikihi Club this season, and if a match between these two clubs could be arranged to take place in Hamilton it might be the means of furthering the inteiest in the game in the Waikato. The annual tournament for the Saville Cup is to be played for in Auckland next year. Many clubs from all parts of the colony are sure to be represented, and wc hope to see the Kiliikihi Club amongst the entrants. A team from Auckland is coming up to take part in the annual sports of the Kiliikihi Club. No doubt Waingaro will also be represented, and quite a small tournament between the clubs will take place.—(Correspondent).
