Washington, October 8. The Government has ordered five warships to proceed to Smyrna. Constantinople, October 8. The British Fleet has arrived at Salonica. The l"orte is discussing the question whether to confiscate the property of the fugitive Armenians in order to recoup the lossps sustained by foreigners. London, October 9. Mr Ritchie, president of th<3 Board of Trade, addressing his constituents at Croydon, and in referring to the Government policy, said they could not suppress Turkey, but with the assistance of the Powers they could demand a better system of Government for Christians and Moslems, with guarantees, without going to war.
