CABLE SUMMARY.
A bubonic plague, somewhat resembling that which caused havoc some time ago among the natives of Ilong kong, is prevalent in Bombay. Three hundred deaths are recorded up to the present. The bells in the churches in London were rung in honour of the Queen's attaining the longest roijru on the English throne. Her Majesty received messages of congratulation from almost every part of the world. The steamer Bogong sprang a leak oil' Sudwy river, and struck and sank on entering the mouth. The crew of eight attempted to swim ashore. The captain, engineer, and a seaman landed greatly exhausted. Three brothers named Hingstaves, also Anderson and Astro]) are missing. A shocking accident befel :i carpenter named Sitjo, at Toktumval (N.S.W.). He slipped on the roof of a building and fell to the ground. During his decent lie ran a pine splinter six inches long into his buttocks.
Thirteen thousand Cape, Natal, and Transvaal residents have petitioned tin; Government to reinstate Mr Cecil Rhodes.
The Volksraad has passed a measure which provides that the names of the writers of newspaper articles must be published with the article.
