CORONERS' INQUESTS .

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In yesterday’s issue an inquest at Rukuhia is reported. The object of a coroner’s inquest in cases of sudden death is to find out the cause thereof. After hearing the evidence and taking up the time of several witnesses, the intelligent jury came to the conclusion that the cause of death was “ that deceased was found dead.” Is the result of the ordinary inquest when held in this manner worth the expense to the country and waste of time of everybody concerned? —I am, etc., John Smith, Taxpayer.
