THE ESCAPED PRISONERS.

On the alarm being given the ’* mtn dropped their swags and escaped to the bush. The'swaas were found to coni'' tain a complete outfit, i c-videntlV' from i Beale’s store, at Midhurst. ■ Aiokmann, one of the escapees, got a. shake-down and breakfast from a settler on the Bird Bead, leaving again at seven o’clock on Sunday morning. The other men called at a settler’s house on the Chmie Boad, representing themselves as special constables, and sot breakfast and their clothes dried. Aiokmann says be parted ■with the other two because they .stated their intention of * doing’ for anyone who tiled to stop them. They still have the -warder’s rifle. The country is actively patrolled bv the police, special constables, and the Hawera Mooted Bifles and Volunteers. Two of the eicapee->, named Alley and Lukuschuska, were captured, after a smart chase, near Lltham by a survey party on Tuesday morning. A s (BY TELEGRAPH OWN COERESPONBEM:). Patka, Last_ Night.
