WAIMARINO A&P

SHOW 1989

(2^7; - ' / :- -

It's this district's annual Agricultural and Pastoral show this weekend and the public from all corners of the area are invited. People from Waiouru and Ohakune, Pipiriki to Owhango and beyond are invited

to Raetihi Showgrounds on Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19, to help make the show successful. "Everyone who has something to show or sell or do is welcome to share it with the

public at the Show," says Bearnice Frost, secretary of the Show committee. The gate charge is just $2 for adults and $1 for children. This is the first year back at the Show for the shearers and a new

portable stand has been built under the guidance of Ron Jensen and will be placed in front of the grandstand to make good viewing for the public. Show cattle classes have been revived and

there will be several breeds represented in the competition. The public are invited to view them in the cattle pens behind the grandstand. Farmers' classes and fatstock in the sheep section should again be well

supported, and pet lambs have a competition of their own with a champion ribbon for the best overall. A children 's pet parade will be on in ffont of the grandstand at 12.30pm. All pets

are welcome - last year a very handsome goose won the red ribbon. (Perhaps there may be more unusual pets this year). There will be all kinds of stalls at the Show, with plenty of

food available and interesting displays to look at.

Produce, flowers and handcrafts promise to be in good supply in the shed, where some beautiful hand weaving will be displayed.

A Royal Agricultural Society silver medal will be awarded for the points prize in the

shed. This year's horse section is strong and promises good

competition - entries have been received from far afield and of course the star attrac-

tion will be Charisma. The new showhunter classes are well supported and the

Waimarino Show is on the points circuit for the Horse of the Year Show.

The showhunting and showjumping will be held on the Sunday.
