Waiouru Museum display artist Dave Fitzwater holds a Manaia which has been loaned to the museum to be included in the 28th Maori Battalion display. The sculpture was originally given to the battalion before they went overseas to fight in the Second World War. It travelled with the battalion during that time and was always hung in the battalion headquarters.
