Health Expo coming

March 3 and 4 are shaping up to be the healthiest days in 1989. The Waimarino Community Health Watch Committee is planning a "Health Expo", to be held at the Raetihi Primary School.

Over 70 local groups and organisations, which are either directly or indirectly involved with healthy lifestyles, have been contacted to participate in this event. Each group will be allocated a bay in the school hall where they will be responsible for establishing their own displays. Other clubs are being asked to run activities related to healthy living, such as a Golf Tournament and a family fun walk/run. Specialist speakers are being invited to talk on such topics as Health of Elderly, Asthma, Heart Care, Maori Health issues and Stress Management. Dr Chan from the Wanganui Area Health Board will be giving an opening address Friday Evening, on 'A.I.D.S and other infectious diseases'. Outdoor activities are also to be held on the Saturday including aerobic, jump-rope-for-

heart and other displays. Local groups will be responsible for catering with emphasis on healthy foods/snacks. Health Expo Organiser Dorothy Scarrow is confident that the Waimarino people will make March 4 their Day for Health. Organiscrs hope that the 'Health Expo' will raise

local peoples awareness of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle; as wcll as introducing them to the many health related activiiies that alrcady occur in the Waimarino area. If there are any clubs, groups or individuals who have not yet been approached about this event, but are interested in becoming involved, they can contact either Dorothy Scarrow, phone 54-095 or Leigh Berry, phone 54-172.
