BOUQUET
Retiring Waimarino District Councillor Ellen Gould is the recipient of this week's Bulletin bouquet.
Mrs Gould put forward her resignation "with great regret" at the last meeting of the council, but maintains that she simply has not the time to devote to both her job as councillor and that of
acting principal at Ohakune Primary School. Mrs Gould says she has thoroughly enjoyed her long association, initially with the Ohakune Borough Council and later the
District Council, and would have been more than happy to continue had it not been for other commitments. During her time on the council, she maintained an active interest in health and wel-
fare of the district, working in liaison with senior citizens
and civil defence. While not active on the Town Planning Committee, she followed its developments with interest. Mrs Gould says she was "extremely fortunate" to work with the high calibre of administrative staff and councillors during her time with the council. She maintains she will consider standing for re-election once retired from teaching., Having also enjoyed a long association with the school, Mrs Gould
says the last fourteen months as acting principal have been "challenging." "The administrative work has been a challenge that I've enjoyed immensely having never done it before," she said. While acting-prin-cipal officially until May this year, Mrs Gould says time will need to be spent becoming orientated back into classroom routine after the long break from teaching once the principal's position is filled.
