Waimarino Cr resigns
Ohakune ward representative Ellen Gould is resigning from the Waimarino District Council. She cites lack of time to do the job justice as being the reason for her resignation. "I feel very bad about resigning at this time," she told the Bulletin last week. She said if she had known
that she would still be acting principal of Ohakune Primary School into 1989 she would not have stood for council. "I haven't been able to attend the Ruapehu District Transition Committee meetings, which I think are very important," said Mrs Gould. She said as things are she would not be able to stand for election to the Ruapehu District Council when it is formed later in the year. Had the Waimarino District Council continued to exist she says she probably would have asked for a leave of absence. Mrs Gould said she would need to devote a lot more time to the school with the enormous changes in education which are in the pipeline. Waimarino District Councillors will decide at tomorrow night's meeting whether to fill the vacancy by election or by appointment.
