MAILBAG

How can Mrs A Gardner write such 1 garbage! (Mailbag, December 20, 1988). To say that Greenpeace were the real villains in the Rainbow Warrior affair and not the murderers Alain Mafart and Dominique Prieur and their government is absolutely crazy! Next she'll be telling us the Greenpeace photographer who died on the ship blew himself up to embarrass the French! (As if they need any help!) Sure we need defence and the Chain of Defence sounds fine, except the bit about the choosing of weapons being left to each country concerned. At the moment we're all sitting ducks while our mate on watch, ie France, holds a stick of nuclear dynamite under our bums. And even the most bird-brained of war hawks should be able

to see that there is no point in defending a Pacific lilly pond with a weapon that is slowly but surely poisoning all the liltle fishes, the lilly pads and, ultimately, all us sitting ducks. And hawks. You come near me and I'll blow myself up!(Mr) Hours please Could the Secondhand Clothing shop in Clyde Street, Ohakune, please make known to the public, its times for opening and closing. My son made five trips to the shop on

Monday January 16 and found this shop closed on each occasion. There was no notification of the shop being closed or to any other time, and this seems to be a regular occurrence. This shop has not had regular hours for over 12 months. Is it any wonder that so many locals head to other centres, to buy good second-hand clothing and fumiture? After all people will only patronize a business, where there is a service with a smile, and not a service with closed doors.
