Waiouru cadets graduate
Army Training Group Waiouru's seventh Officer Cadet School class graduated last week with Lieutenant General John Airth Mace, CB, OBE as reviewing officer at their graduating ceremony. Twenty nine cadets graduated from the class, with 20 New Zealanders and nine overseas cadets making up the number. The overseas cadets included six from Australia, two from Brunei and one from Malasia. One cadet, John Geoffrey Ivil, received four prizes at the graduation ceremony, including the Sword of Honour, the Governor General's Medal, the Chief of Staff s Prize and the Commander Army Training Group Waiouru's Prize. From page 1 cer Cadet who best displays the qualities of leadership, initiative, i n t e g r i t y , motivation, academic ability and physical fitness and who is assessed as having the greatest potential as an Army Officer. Other prizes awarded were the Australian Chief of General Staffs Prize for Tactics, to Officer Cadet Godfrey Phillip Brosnan. The Sergeant Major of the Army's Prize was awarded to Officer Cadet Gregory Carl Allnutt and the Commandant's Prize went to Australian Officer Cadet Shaun Edmund Fletcher. The graduates received their pips at midnight on Wednesday December 14, as is customary, after a buffet dinner.
