One of the Waimarino's only carpet layers is Ohakune builder John Porter. John works with partner Peter Craig on building projects, and part time on carpet laying work. His credentials as a carpet layer go back to his apprenticeship which he started in Whangarei and finished in New Plymouth. He continued with carpet laying in new Plymouth for about eight years then decided to take a break and come to Turoa to ski. John worked on ski patrol for four years, continuing to take on floor covering work in his spare time. He is experienced at all aspects of floor covering work including vinyl, cork and carpet laying, wall cladding, bathroom work, bench and bar tops - in fact all types of domestic and commercial work.

WAIMARINO DISTRICT COUNCIL niSTRIOT Pl ANNING SCHFME REVIEW PROPOSALS STATEMENT The Waimarino District Council intends to review the District Planning Scheme, which is currently in three parts. These are the former Waimarino County District Scheme, the Raetihi Borough District Scheme, and the Ohakune Borough District Scheme. It is intended to produce one document, which, with some minor changes, will foliow the existing zones and ordinances, with the modifications necessary for a single document. The Scheme, therefore, will reflect the current philosophy and direction of the existing three schemes. However. it is envisaged that the number of zones will be reduced throughout the district, and that the Scheme will be simplified, so that it is more easily understood.
