EXTRA COST FOR SEWERAGE SCHEME
An extra cost will be added to the Rangataua Sewerage Scheme because the contractor had not allowed for enough house laterals. The Waimarino Works Engineer's November report to the council included: "One major change to this (Rangataua Sewerage Scheme) project is that the consultant states in their cost estimates they had only allowed for the installation of house laterals where existing houses are present. However this has had to be changed to each section, the difference being estimated at 60 and now 160." District Manager John Murrihy said while the revised cost has not yet been worked out it would not be a large amount. He said it would be much cheaper to install the laterals now rather than later when section would be developed.
