Sam (Brian) and Iris McCarthy and friends from Telecom gathered at the club recently to celebrate Sam's 36 years work. Sam retired from being senior forman for Telecom a few weeks ago. The Ohakune born and bred couple aren't planning to leave town, except to have fun "doing the race tracks". Sam says he should by a tea shop because he's been the best tea maker in Telecom-having started off as tea maker and finished as tea maker, but it doesn't seem likely with the number of race tracks around!
