BOARD MAY SAY NO TO ELECTRICORP CLOCK

While the King Country Electric Power Board has voted against Turangi being the recipient of an Electricorp clock, Ohakune will not necessarily be the winner. The board has yet to decide whether purchasing a clock at all is in its best interests. Board member Gordon Gower has given notice that he will move that the original decision in favour of obtaining one of the docks be rescinded. This motion will come up at the Board's next meeting later this month. Mr Gower's reasons behind his motion are that the long term viability of the clock and the returns to the board from it were questionable and that Electricorp were prepared to only fund the capital costs of the clock. Also there was the problem of both Ohakune and Turangi wanting the clock.
