Parklands corner needs attention

Ohakune's Parklands corner needs attention before a major accident happens, saysj Waimarino councillor Bruce Thompson. He told the Waimarino Works and Reserves Committee at their last meeting that there have been about fifty cars hit the rail on the corner during the winter. He said the problem is drivers coming into the town from the north at excessive speed so that they loose control. He says the National Roads Board must be made aware of the problem. Mr Thompson said the Ministry of Transport must be aware of the problem because Ministry of Works depot staff have been fixing the rail "almost daily". The committee heard that the council has been told Ohakune is "stuck with it", that people can handle the comer at the right speed.
