College Ball a night to remember

Ruapehu College held its annual Ball last week and it turned out to be a night to remember. Firstly, it was one of the few occasions when a school activity recorded a profit. Ticket saies were more than satisfactory with over 100 people turning up. Secondly, the night went unmarred by incident, even though cause for alarm is quite rare at any function held by the College. Finally, the band from Taihape were very impressed by the atmosphere and said that in all the performances they've ever done, at none have they had everyone on the dance floor at the same time like it was at the Ball. They were delighted at the chance of a repeat performance next year. The College people were very pleased with Ms Leanne Kane who was co-ordinator and organiser, and were also pleased with the

senior students who helped out. by Keir Whipp School inspectors The Education Board sent a team of Inspectors to Ruapehu Col-

lege last week to check that the school is being run to satisfactory standards. The inspectors were requested at the beginning of the year b y former Principal Mr Ian Meredith, who has

since left leaving the responsibility to act-ing-head Mr Harry Cast. The impression that Mr Cast has had from the inspectors so far is that "many good and exciting ideas are coming from the school, its teachers and students." The role of a modern

inspector ditlers to tnat of the old critic. Today they are not sent to sneak around the corridors to spy on classroom activity. Instead they advise and give constructive criticism where it is needed. And at Ruapehu College the find verdict is predicted to be a very good one.
