Sharper image for National Park
Plans are under way to give National Park a sharper image and a chance at greater future growth. The present planning scheme for the township needs revising, according to a Massey University lccturer, who says that it does nothing to create an image. Geography lecturer Joanne Rosier says National Park township needs a specific work programme ihat will idcntify its uniquc fea-
tures and enhance that uniqueness. She has put forward a proposal to the Taumarunui County Council for the formulation of a set of guidclines to find ihe village's image. The proposal includcs interviewing rcsidents to find out their views on what the town should be like, and sctting guidelincs for future building, in line with an ovcrall image. Council will considcr the proposal at their ncxt monthly mccting.
