RATES WRITE OFF

The Waimarino Acclimatization Society has asked the district council to write off its rates for the 1988/89 year. From the last Waimarino Finance and Administration Committee meeting, the district manager asked that the matter be deferred until he could check the Act governing rates writeoffs to see whether it was legal for the council to do so. Committee members were in general agreement that if it was permissible the request should be "seriouslv looked at".
