Rugby stars away

Ruapehu Hotel was the venue for a farewell presentation for Steve Gordon and Thomas Waara who were both selected for touring National selection teams. Steve was selected for the New Zealand

Pacific Islands Tour and Thomas Waara for the World Youth Tour to Argentina. The Presentation was attended by many friends and team mates of the two. Representatives from the Northern Wanganui Rugby Union attended. Mr Robert Clever, President of Northern Wanganui Rugby Union, commented that it was a fine effort for a town as small a s Raetihi to have two representatives in National selection teams. Presentations o f cheques were then made from the Northern Wanganui Rugby Union, Raetihi Rugby Club, Ruapehu Hotel, Charleston Gymnasium, and Raetihi Senior Team Sponsors,

the Ritz Tea Rooms. In their replies the tourists thanked their clubs, friends and the organisations who made the presentations.
