Society to help huts clean-up

Four members of the Wanganui Forest and Bird Society recently offcred their serviccs to cleaning and rcfurbishing one of Whanganui National Park's more frequentcd huts. The Tepuha Hut, situated two kilometrcs down river from the settlemcnt of Ongarue, receivcd a face lift and is now all set for the summer season's influx of trampers. Last year members of the group completely repainted the hut and carried out necessary renovations. Ranger Dennis McDonnell expressed his gratitude to groups who volunteer their time and effort to improving park facilities. Pipiriki does not have available the manpower to complete dll the small jobs that need looking after from time to time, he said.
